This thesis installation explores the word home and what it means to different people. The artist interviewed various individuals with unique vantage points on the concept of home and created emotional sculptures tucked away in piles of towering moving boxes, lamps, and furniture. The overwhelming landscape reflects the stress of moving, but the scene does not differentiate between moving out of an old home or unpacking in a new one. Viewers discover intricate illustrative sculptures by seeing the glow of light emerging from tiny detailed windows and as they approach to see the sculpture inside, soft audio from the artist’s interviews becomes audible.

A stand out example are the two adjacent windows with red trim on a box sitting about eye-level, the windows reveal themselves to be mirrors reflecting the viewer’s own eyes back at them while the audio of an interview with the artist’s grandfather, who is in a late stage of dementia, speaks with great insight, and perhaps some sarcasm, about his sense of home being the present because that is all he has.
